2027 rates

Missouri Small Group Rates for 2027

The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI) released preliminary 2027 rates on July 31, 2026. The Department says four insurers will offer small group plans off the exchange in 2027, and final rates are expected by October 31, 2026, so the figures below are preliminary.

Preliminary 2027 small group increases from the carriers’ rate review filings, as reported by The Beacon on August 6, 2026:

15.58%

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City

14.56%

Healthy Alliance Life (Anthem)

12.61%

Medica

17.23%

UnitedHealthcare

These are the carriers’ filings. They are not a list of the carriers CPIS works with. A filing is an average across a carrier’s book, so your own renewal letter is the number that matters. Our group health insurance renewal guide shows what to check in it.

What CPIS does

Small Business Health Insurance in Missouri, With an Office in Columbia

Champion’s Pride Insurance Services is an independent employer benefits brokerage, founded in 1997 and American owned and operated. Each renewal starts from one employee census. We request quotes from the carriers that write Missouri small groups among our 29 and set them out side by side. Lee’s Summit, Independence and Liberty are among the Missouri markets we serve.

Our office is in Columbia, and Missouri employers can meet us face to face. Our team page lists Missouri-based members, including Tim Williams in Blue Springs, Justin Kelly in Carrollton and Dave Randalls in Butler. See also our group health insurance overview and the areas we serve.

Many Kansas City area businesses have employees on both sides of the state line. If most of your employees work in Kansas, our Kansas guide covers that state’s rules instead.

Four things we do for you

Switching at renewal

Switching Your Missouri Group at Renewal

Four steps, in short. The group health insurance renewal guide has the full timeline.

Step 1

Read the letter

Find the new rate, any plan changes and the date your carrier needs your answer.

Step 2

Call us

Phone us with the letter in hand. A CPIS benefits specialist will tell you what we need to start quotes.

Step 3

Sign and send

One page, the broker-of-record letter, names CPIS as your broker. Once carriers have it, they will quote your group and talk with CPIS about it. It does not change your plan on its own. Send your census with it.

Step 4

Compare and enroll

We bring you the quotes side by side. Your carrier sets the date your enrollment paperwork is due before your new plan year starts. Ask us for it.
